Hello my fine feathered friends! I pray you’re all doing well out there.

Today I’d like to share an art journal page with you.

This page measures 4.5×8″. It’s watercolor paper.

I started by throwing a little  watercolor paint on the page. Random areas of Hansa Yellow Light and Ultramarine Turquoise.

Then, place a stencil on the page (the page is still wet) and throw some red watercolor paint on the stencil. Leave the stencil on the page and set aside to dry. Do NOT remove the stencil until it’s dry.

Once the paint is dry, pull the stencil off.

Isn’t this cool! I first saw this technique on You Tube.

I thought it was pretty clever.

Foe embellishments I used a stamp set from Dyan Reaveley. I used the same watercolor paints that were used on the base page on some white card stock scraps, dried with a heat tool, then stamped with Archival Ink. I sat in front of the computer and listened to Mr. Ballen tell me a story while I cut them out.

I ended up with a few extras and saved them in the die cut stash.

Aren’t they pretty?!

I just layered them up along the bottom of the page. I used foam tape behind the top couple of leaves. The sentiments are from an old Cosmo Cricket sticker sheet, but you could use whatever you have or even write/stamp the words of your choice.

  • Watercolor or other heavy paper for page
  • card stock scraps
  • Jet Black Archival ink
