Hello there my fine feathered friends. I hope you’re doing well and and enjoying these last few weeks of summer.

Today I want to share with you an easy way to create a shaker card. I saw some You Tube videos using this technique, and it was called Flat Shaker. I thought this was brilliant! It makes for a less bulky card and recycles a little bit. Woot!

I have two cards to share, both made the exact same way.

Let’s take a look.

This is so simple and smart. First thing you’ll do (after choosing your card base) is to cut a word panel for the front of your card. I used the Silhouette Cameo 4 to cut these panels from Doodlebug card stock.

Once you’ve cut your panel, grab yourself some product packaging, double stick tape, and sequins.

You can do this one of two ways, and I did both.

For the Judy card, I cut a piece of white card stock to fit behind the panel. I put Score-Tape all around the edge of the white panel, dumped sequins on it, and then placed a piece of clear product packaging over top. Burnish the taped edges down, and there ya go- a shaker pocket.

For the Hello card, I had a small product package from a pack of Doodlebug brads. I cut the hang tab off the top, added sequins, and used Score-Tape to close . I then used Score-Tape to attach the shaker to the back of the panel.

Attach the panel to the card front with foam tape.

Easy, right?

I saw this on You Tube and instantly thought WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT!?!?!? I mean really!! So you don’t need all those dies and precut foam tape shapes to create shaker cards after all.

Supplies:

  • card base
  • card stock
  • die cut machine & dies or electronic cutter
  • sequins
  • Score-Tape
  • foam tape
  • product packaging (the clear ‘baggies’ that our goodies come in)
