Hey hey hey, welcome back.
Let’s play along with the Color Dare Challenge Blog!
This week’s challenge is to use shades of brown along with two other colors.
I chose a cream and a cranberry to use with my browns.
Here’s the card.
I used stamps & dies from Brutus Monroe, Tim Holtz watercolor pencils, Distress Inks (Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso) and Archival Inks (black, coffee vintage photo).
Wanna play?
Let’s go!
Here’s the card stocks, stamps, and dies.
The first thing to do is stamp some paper. I found a light brown scrap to go along with these papers.
Now, take your stamped papers and cut into 1/4’strips.
Cover a card panel (this one is 4.25 x 5.5″) with adhesive and lay the strips across, then trim the sides if needed, and cut in half down the middle. You can make two cards with this.
Cut a piece of dark brown card stock to fit the card front and add to the card. Then place on of the striped pieces on the card, at the left.
Next, cut out a tag. I used a Sizzix die.
Ink the edges and on the front of the tag with Distress inks- Vintage Photo & Ground Espresso.
Next it’s time to stamp some sunflowers.
Stamp one with brown ink (I used Vintage Photo Archival) and one in black (I used JetBlack Archival).
I stamped three flowers but only needed two.
Color them however you like. I used Tim’s watercolor pencils.
After coloring the flowers, either restamp over the flower, or go over with a black pen to bing the lines back. I only did the black one, so that the brown ones will kind of recede when the flowers are layered together.
Stamp and cut out a few leaves.
Add the tag to the center of the card front with foam tape.
Now start arranging the flowers and leaves on the tag. I cut one of the flowers that was stamped in brown ink in half. Layer the brown ones behind the black one.
Now we need a sentiment.
I used a sentiment from Brutus Monroe. Trim it out and ink with Distress ink- Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso. Add to bottom of tag. I used thin foam squares from Simon Says Stamp.
Add some Distress Stickles to the center of the foremost flower. Add some twine to the tag, and add a few sequins.
All done!

Love all the texture on this card – who says sunflowers have to be yellow? I really like the colour you used for the flowers.
Love this color combo! So much goodness to appreciate on this card.
Red Sunflowers… yes there is a rare seed that will grow red sunflowers; but like my daughter always tells me, you can do anything in paper crafting. Beautiful bold red sunflowers look great against the kraft and browns.
I’ve grown the red sunflowers 🌻 They are stunning in person.
Wow love the look you created! Great job with our colors~!
Love the sunflowers in red! I also really like how you cut the paper into strips.
