Hello there peeps!

Hubs and I went over to Walt Disney World and spent a day at the Polynesian Resort.

We had a lovely day, and a lovely meal at O’Hana. I thought I’d share it with you.

Originally we were supposed to have a late O’Hana breakfast, and a couple of friends were supposed to go with us. Our friends came down with Covid (they are fine now, did not go to the hospital or anything), so we went alone. As much as we had been looking forward to going with our friends, we actually like going places alone, so we were fine 😍

We left home on time but the traffic was soooo bad, and we ended up being late. Since our reservation was the last breakfast time, we couldn’t have breakfast. The manager at O’Hana offered to walk us over to Kona Cafe (they were still serving breakfast) or put us in for dinner if we wanted to wait around.

We asked for dinner. O’Hana dinner starts at 3:30, so we were the first ones in at dinner.

In the meantime, we went back downstairs to Captain Cook’s and got an order of pulled pork nachos to share. We hadn’t eaten anything, or even had any coffee, and by now it was 1:00. So we got some nachos & a drink, and just hung out and watched the kiddoes at the pool. Talked to a few people and had  nice time. We walked around a little bit, and then back upstairs to have a drink before our super early retirement time dinner. Tambu Lounge opens at 3 pm.

We got a Lapu Lapu (m favorite) and a Pina Colava (pina colada with raspberry puree).

O’Hana has changed the menu since they reopened. They used to bring the meats to your table on skewers and it was so much fun! But no more.

The bread that they used to bring to your table is no more. Now its these little muffins that they call scones. They are REALLY good and have tropical fruits in them, but I preferred the Friendship Bread.

The noodles, which I call CRACK NOODLES are as great as ever. Ahhhh I love them so much. We asked our waiter for a skillet of only noodles and he asked if they were my favorite. Of course they are! He was so sweet and when he brought the noodles, he brought us two take out containers saying “I’m not supposed to do this, but…”

Our waiter also brought us rice crispie treats, saying “Everyone’s a kid at Disney”. He was so nice and apparently liked us 🥰

The bread pudding is fabulous, but they’ve changed it. No longer bananas foster, it now has crushed pineapple and salted caramel sauce and it’s fantastic.

The Polynesian has such a nice atmosphere. It’s serene and chill. And I used to work there and STILL adore it, so that should speak to how lovely the place is.

After dinner, we waddled on outside and walked around the resort some more. I showed hubs where some stuff is hidden and we ran into someone I used to work with. We sat on the beach for about an hour before we decided to head home.

We got a couple of Dole Whip Floats before we left. Sat in the lobby for about 40 minutes and enjoyed our floats, and yep I talked to a few people 😂😁

Final thoughts on O’Hana dinner right now:

Noodles still awesome, steak was perfectly medium rare, potstickers still FABULOUS (although I miss the peanut dipping sauce), wings the same as before, chicken was good according to hubby.

I prefer the old Friendship Bread over the new ‘scones’ but they are good. Oh, the salad- they don’t mix the dressing into it anymore, and I wish they did. Weedy salads are hard to coat in dressing evenly- I need them to do it LOL

The initial skillet that comes with the noodles and chicken also has sausage. Hubs said it was good.

Of course the best thing (next to the noodles) is the bread pudding. Even though they’ve changed it, it’s still AWESOME and worth the price of admission.
